Summary: I found Ray via social media, and when I first reached out to him, he thought I would ask him about comic books or his time in the dot com bubble. After the interview, Ray mentioned he hadn't really reflected about the Coalition since leaving Iowa, so he was happy he got the chance to do so. Ray Mescallado was one of the founders of the Asian American Coalition at the University of Iowa. In this interview Ray discusses growing up in a Filipino household in New York, the culture shock he experienced moving to Iowa for his PhD, and his love for the Wu Tang Clan.
