Seashia Vang

Summary: My first conversation with Seashia I asked about a painting in the Asian Pacific American Cultural Center, she excitedly told me she knew the artists of the painting, but when she asked her friends, they all said Seashia painted the mural as well. Seashia and her friends' interviews reflected this, she gave a lot of credit to her peers, and others gave a lot of credit to her. Seashia Vang attended the University of Iowa from 2006 to 2010. In this interview, Seashia recounts growing up as a Hmong American in Des Moines, Iowa, her experiences with the Asian American Coalition, and her encounters with racism following the Virginia Tech Shootings.
